2024 State of Global Missions

2024 State of Global Missions

Zane Pratt’s “2024 State of Global Missions Report” highlights some BIG changes for missionaries and the global church:

  • Technology is rapidly evolving (increasing the power of both good actors and bad actors)
  • The world is more connected than ever (increasing the speed of both good and bad methodologies)
  • Global population growth is outpacing global evangelism
  • Resilience in missionaries is decreasing

For us at One Village Group, these trends can be summarized into one foundational issue: How we connect with others has drastically changed, and Christians are not keeping up.

A new way of connecting

While the rest of the world is using powerful communication tools to connect and engage with people around the world, most missionaries are still sent out into the field with the equivalent of pen and paper to communicate.

Some new technologies are starting to appear in the field (shout out to Prayvine), but on the whole, the training and communications missionaries use have seen very little change for decades.

The right tools make a difference

Missionaries need to be given the right tools for their mission as well.

Here's some of our favorites right now:

  • Prayvine (sending out interactive prayer requests to prayer teams)
  • Ghost.org (personal websites for building and sending newsletters)
  • Convertkit (managing contacts and setting up automated communications)
  • Canva (creating graphics for social media and presentations)

What great tools have you seen out there that can be used to share more Jesus with more people?
